I finished my first solo work!

Hi there,

I'm so excited as I finally finished the afghan I did for my sister's birthday. It was the diamond trellis one and it turned out great! It's the first one I've done totally by myself without help from anyone (from a pattern). I got the pattern from the back of a Red Heart skein. I think she liked it. I'm pretty sure she did. She's not a very demonstrative sister emotionally but she is the best as far as being caring and giving.

Also, last week, I went back to my mom's and helped her organize her new apartment and she let me take two more big tubs of yarn home WOW!!! So now I have plenty to start many projects.
I started a new afghan for my friend yesterday. It will be lavender and cream colored stripes and the pattern is from a Red Heart one online called "Rippled Romance". It's my first ripple ghan.
I'm excited to see how it turns out. I haven't changed colors in a pattern before either so that is making me a bit nervous, but excited too!

Well, that's it for now.

Jackpot!

Hello fellow bloggers,

How are all your projects coming? Mine are a little slow. Yesterday I had to take my 11yr old son to a doctor appointment which was quite a drive.

I had to drop the toddlers off at my mother’s house and when I picked them up, she let me have a lot of her yarn!!! Bonus!!!! When she had told me I could have some of her left over yarn, I thought oh maybe a bag or so….but this was at least 7 to 8 Walmart bags full of yarn!!! Jackpot!

Now I can start on a lot of other projects. The key is, to finish them!! LOL! She also gave me a bunch of crochet needles she isn’t using. She said if her vision gets better she would like some of them back. No problem there! I can’t use all of them at once!

Anyway, thank you Mom for letting me have all the yarn! I’m going to have fun!!

Until next time, America!

Easy Does it!

Hi!
Today I decided to get back to the "basics". I took out this book I have called "I taught myself to crochet". I did each step even though it was review for two-thirds of it, I gained a lot of information I skipped over by doing it on my own. I learned why you have to add chains at the ends and how many. I learned how to do a half-double crochet. I also learned how to do fringe, which on my last project really screwed up!

So now, to kind of shake things up I decided to do the first pattern in this beginner book called "Easy Scarf". It is basically a lesson in double and single crochet and fringe. I had extra Aran yarn from this other project I'm on (a Diamond trellis afghan) and I now have two projects in tow.

My husband is going to help me with getting pictures of the stuff I'm working on soon, as well as a few pictures of the blankets I "attempted" when all I knew was to single crochet.

'til we hook up again,

My Crochet and Play Log

Hello to my new friends! I am Nikki Lynne and have just started learning how to crochet by pattern. Before that, I would just single crochet back and forth until I made a blanket! Ugh! This is so much faster and more fun! Thanks to my mother-in-law, I've learned how to read basic patterns. I'm so "hooked" on crochet now.

Please stay tuned for pictures of my projects in the near future!

Until we hook up again!
